Our "Family Brewery", the 156, was established in 1992
and we've been cooking up hand crafted beers in our kitchen, following no particular brewing tradition, ever since.
Our first brewery (a bath tub full of beer making equipment) was appropriately located in the old
German Village district of Columbus, Ohio. Two years later, in 1996, we decided to
move from German village to a village in a Germany. It is here, on a bit of Bavarian
hillside along the Isar River, where you'll find us today. Cooking up a batch of homebrew with friends,
and sampling the results, is truly a pleasure.
Here are descriptions and labels of our best brews to date: |
|
Columbus Pils II This sophisticated pilsner's unique brewing method yields a pleasing, golden sharp palette. The assertive hop bouquet might lead your thoughts to late afternoon sun and crystal blue autumn skies. Tettnanger and Saaz hops give this self confident pilsner its wonderful bite. |
|
Park Bench Pilsner Inspired by a favorite photograph my father took as a young man in Brooklyn, New York. Park Bench is a quietly refreshing pils. A suitable accompaniment to long friendships shared slowly over warm afternoon conversations. |

All Soul's Stout Chocolaty velvet in a glass. Brewed in the peaceful stillness after hallow's eve. All Soul's Stout offers a rich harvest of grains blended into a calm, gentle and slightly sweet stout. This creamy headed brew can make a dark beer drinker of anyone. |

Simple Pilsner Ano-nonsense, clean, light pilsner. Simple Pilsner combines a minimum number of ingredients to produce a straight up, tasty brew. Uncluttered and quenching. Don't let the simplicity fool you. In regards to Simple Pilsner, the old adage drinks true: Less is More. |

Sleeping Dog Porter Relax. No worries. Pop a bottle of this home-brew and dissolve your day into a luxurious, bittersweet porter. Named for our comfortable black Labrador, Niko. Sleeping Dog is the favorite house cure for days with too many edges. |

Winter's Pale Ale A chilly cold brewed pale warmed with a generous helping of sensuous Alexander Malt. Light bodied with a fine head, Winter's Pale Ale makes a tasteful fireside companion. Softly balanced with a lovely copper-gold color. Give yourself the opportunity to enjoy one of home-brew's satisfying pleasures. |
